Swanstrom, Dennis B. Col (Retired USAF Reserve) “Denny/ Swany” December 29, 1942 – January 30, 2021 Dennis was born in Lincoln, NE and raised on a farm near Davey, NE. He went on to graduate from Waverly High School & University of Nebraska Agricultural College. Upon completing college, Dennis became a marketing representative for IBM’s data processing division. He held the position for 13 years in Omaha & Sioux City, IA. He took a leave of absence to attend Air Force Pilot Training in Lubbock, Texas. Denny then became a member of the 185th Tactical Flight Group under the Iowa Air National Guard. Upon officially leaving IBM, he became a full time fighter pilot and civil servant of the 185th and served as the commander for 11 years. When Swany decided to retire, he had completed almost 33 years of military reserve commitment. His time was also occupied with numerous community boards and organizations in Sioux City. He enjoyed traveling with his loving wife, Lynn, spending time with his grandchildren, hiking & being a loyal Husker fan. Preceded in death by parents, Evert & Vera Swanstrom; sister, Wylene Twombly; grandson, Jack Evert Swanstrom Survived by wife, Lynn; sons, Stephen (Courtenay) Swanstrom & Eric (Kathryn) Swanstrom; grandchildren, Madelyn, Maddox, Dylan & Victoria.
