Dean passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Hospice House in Omaha, NE. Dean Allen Godbersen was born on September 22, 1945 in Millard, NE to Otto and Grace (Paulsen) Godbersen. Dean attended Willow Dale School and then graduated from Millard High School in 1963. Dean’s early years were shaped by farming, hard work and a strong sense of independence. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Real Estate. Following graduation, he served six years in the Nebraska National Guard, including Basic Combat Training at Fort Campbell and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He began his professional career as a loan officer with the First National Bank of Lincoln before returning to Omaha to pursue self employment as a real estate broker. In 1971, he married Cathie, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership. Together they raised their daughter, Angela (Angie), born in 1977. In 1980, he became a licensed real estate appraiser and operated a successful appraisal business for nearly four decades, completing more than 16,000 appraisals before retiring in 2018. Known for his dedication and enjoyment of his work, he never truly stopped doing what he loved. Dean enjoyed traveling with Cathie, especially to destinations near water and mountains. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, grandkids and granddog(Skittles) with all

of their outdoor activities. His life was marked by hard work, independence, devotion to family and lasting friendships. Survived by wife of 55 years, Cathie, daughter and son-in-law Angie and Luke Flamig of Papillion NE; grandchildren Gracie and Drew Flamig sister-in-law, Lorraine Godbersen(Robert) sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Ben Cacioppo beloved grand dog, Skittles Preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Otto and three brothers Dale, Vernon(Gail) and Robert(Melva), brother-in-law Robert(Marcia) Petersen.

Memorials to be directed to the Nebraska Humane Society. 

Celebration of Dean's Life will be held 11am, Tuesday, January 13, 2026 with visitation starting at 10am all at Braman Mortuary Millard Chapel.
