Caroline Mattie Renken, 23, of Omaha, Nebraska, was born June 7, 2002, and left the world too soon unexpectedly on September 13, 2025.
From the moment she entered the world, Caroline brought sunshine into the lives of all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Bob and Jenny (Bergman) Renken, the cherished sister of Chloe (Renken) Simon and her husband, Jack Simon, and the adoring aunt of their daughter, Lucy.
Caroline’s life was marked by warmth, laughter, and an easy joy that made others feel at home in her presence. She loved being with people—gathering with family, sharing moments with friends, or meeting someone new, she always radiated a light that lifted those around her.
Though her time here was far too short, Caroline’s spirit continues to shine. Like the song, “Here Comes the Sun,” her memory reminds us that even after the darkest times, warmth and light return. Her laughter, kindness, and quiet strength will always stay with those who knew and loved her.
Caroline had a deep love for travel and a fearless sense of adventure, from snowboarding to helicopter tours, and everything in between. She was always up for a concert, a weekend road trip, or a new experience that brought her closer to the people and places she adored. She had a special passion for thrifting—turning vintage treasures into one-of-a-kind outfits that reflected her creativity and individuality. Every Fourth of July, she looked forward to the celebration at Woodcliff, where fireworks, family, and laughter came together in a way that felt like pure summer magic.
Caroline graduated from Millard South High School in 2021. Throughout her youth, she was a dedicated member of her club softball team, where she was known for her fierce competitive spirit and exceptional skill as both a pitcher and a catcher – loving the life under the ballpark
lights. Her middle school years included summer trips to Sibley to visit grandparents, enjoying small-town life and especially going to the county fair with her friend, Robert.
Caroline is fondly remembered for her vibrant and outgoing personality and her unwavering light—a joyful spirit that warmed every room and left hearts brighter in her wake.
She is survived by her parents, Bob and Jenny; her sister and brother-in-law, Chloe and Jack; her niece, Lucy; Her grandmother Mattie Bergman, grandparents Robert and Eileen Renken, and many extended relatives and friends who will carry her light forward. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Bergman and uncle Bill Bergman, and her great-grandmother Frances Guild.
A private service to celebrate Caroline’s life will be held in Omaha, with details to be shared with family and friends. Memorials may be made to the family to honor and celebrate Caroline’s life and legacy.
