Candy Ann Johnson

Candy Johnson November 8, 1959- January 27, 2026

Candy Ann (Spray) Johnson, 66, of Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandma, and aunt.

Candy was born in Akron, IA, on November 8, 1959 to Jack Spray and Emily Wallingford. She grew up in Ashland, NE, with her younger brother, Everett "Bud" Spray. She graduated from Ashland-Greenwood High School, studied a year at UNL, and moved to Omaha not long after.

Candy began her 38 year long career with First Data Resources in 1983 and retired in December 2021. She had one daughter, Carrie, and one son, Wayne. In October of 1989 she married James H. Johnson and became a second mom to his children from previous marriage. She became a widow December 2016.

Candy enjoyed the simple things that brought her joy. She loved watching her favorite football teams play, on top of many different TV shows she loved to watch, playing games on her tablet, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She spent 7 years in Virginia and loved the beach.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Emily (Wallingford) Spray; brother, Everett "Bud" Spray; husband, James H. Johnson; grandson, Darryl K. Johnson; stepson, Jeffrey S. Johnson

She is survived by her daughter, Carrie R. Johnson; son, Wayne H. Johnson; grandson, Andre J. Johnson; granddaughter, Haylee T. Potter, and many more of her grandkids; nephew, Bruce Spray and family; many of her cousins, extended family, and all the kids she loved and considered hers.

Candy will be remembered for all the love and kindness she gave. She was a comfort, and cared for so many who considered her like a second mom. Her hugs, unconditional love, and patience were always present and will be greatly missed.
