Brandon Michael Newport

Brandon Michael Newport was born on 7/16/1990 in Tonawanda, New York and grew up in Valley, NE. Brandon graduated from DC West High School in 2008 where he then enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in active duty for 8 years and then he joined the Reserves for 3 years. After being Honorably Discharged in 2019, he became a Correctional Officer at Douglas County Corrections. He later transferred to Omaha Correctional Center. Brandon attended Metro Community College where he received his Associates degree in Criminal Justice.

Brandon spent time outdoors with his friends. He loved kayaking, hiking, playing pool, and his dogs Balto and Ghost. Brandon was a bright and funny guy who went out of his way for his friends and family. He made an impact in many people’s lives.

Brandon is survived by his guardians William and Sharlyne O’Dell; his brother Chad Davis and his family Michelle, Alyson, Grace, and Blake ; his sister Jenny Newport and her family Tristin and Mariah; his brother Andrew Newport, and his brother Adam Newport and his family Krystal, Nora Jo, and Olive; and many other foster siblings and loved ones

GATHERING OF FAMILY & FRIENDS: Monday, July 20, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Braman Mortuary (Millard Chapel)

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00am at the Omaha National Cemetery, with Military Honors by the United States Navy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials given to the family will be used in Brandon's memory at a later date.
