Dale attended Howard Kennedy Elementary School then promoted to Horace Mann Jr. High, elevated to Technical High School where she earned her high school diploma. After high school she was awarded a full ride scholarship from the Urban League and attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri. Dale did exceptionally well in college, earning a 4.0 GPA in her study of Accounting.
Dale began her professional career at Northern Natural Gas Company in Omaha, NE. She later moved on to Browning-Ferris Industries in Houston, TX. Thereafter, she joined Union Pacific Railroad where she retired.
She was a member of the railroad union and attended Salem Baptist Church with her family.
Dale was an avid Bid Whist card player, delighted in catching a sale, excitedly hosted parties in her home (warmed her heart to have people at her home and enjoying themselves), and she passionately gardened and grew both plants and food!
What made Birdell special and unique? She was known for her kind, jokingly, and feisty spirit! Dale was always ready to share her opinion and talk about politics! She had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and she demonstrated that gift during her house parties with good people, good food, good music and good conversations. Her kindness and generosity touched many she came across. She had a mind for numbers. She could quickly and accurately calculate monetary matters in her head. She was persistent and kept going even life dealt some hard blows. She was a fighter, strategic, strong willed, thoughtful, funny, loved beauty around her in all forms, loved high threaded sheet counts 🙂, believed in family, forgiving, felt emotions deeply, and believed in getting her rest. She was wonderful.
People can gather to remember Dale on 7/2/26, 11:00am at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ellis delivering the eulogy.
Dale's final arrangements will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery located at 2300 S 78th St, Omaha, NE 68124, where she will be laid to rest.
The family would like to thank you for the cards, flowers, and kind words of sympathy shown following her death.
