Bernard "Bernie" Baratta

Bernard “Bernie” Baratta, 5/13/1936- 9/27/2019 Bernie was born in Omaha, NE. to the late Anthony and Margaret Baratta and lived in Omaha his entire life. He served in the US Army and National Guard. His careers included contracting, insurance, and real estate. He leaves behind his wife Joan of 61 years. Five children Tony (Debi) Baratta of Omaha, Diana (Carl) Poteet of Omaha, Barb (Brett) Vasek of Omaha, Cathy (Dave) Marshall of Dover, Delaware and, Paul Baratta of Omaha; He was blessed with seven grandchildren: AJ Baratta, Jake and Alyson Poteet, Erika and Micah Vasek, Becky and Jenna Marshall. His best friend and frequent travel partner brother, Jim and his wife Ardy. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, card parties, and cornhusker football.He also enjoyed family gatherings, reunions, and family meals. He loved trips to visit family, and throughout his life he remained close to his cousins and extended family. Bernie had a lively sense of humor and loved playing pranks and practical jokes. Visitation Monday, September 30, 2019 from 5-7 P.M. Vigil service at 7 P.M. at Braman Southwest Chapel Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Charles Borromeo 7790 S. 192nd St. Gretna, NE. Private family interment Memorials to be directed to the family.
