After a prolonged battle with cancer, Ed passed away at home surrounded by his wife and family. Ed (Eddie) was preceded in death by his mother Sandy Thomas Massengale, stepfather Jim Massengale, father Thomas Fortenberry; brother Richard Fortenberry; sister-in-law Christine Donahue; and niece Hannah Porter.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Colleen Nelson Fortenberry; daughter Allyson (Jose) Fortenberry, grandsons Enzo and Emerick; son Michael (Haley) Fortenberry; mother-in-law Barbara Push; sisters Melanie (Chris) Massengale, Julie (Greg) Fortenberry Hicks, Jennifer (Brian) Fortenberry Taylor; stepmothers Sharon Massengale and Betty Fortenberry; brother-in-law, Mike (Angela) Nelsonand many nieces and nephews.
