Anita Jane Savery, October 4, 1946 ~ August 1, 2025
Anita Jane (Lambrecht) Savery passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by her family. After a life of service, teaching and caring for her family, she earned her heavenly rest. She bravely battled myeloma for 7 years, holding on long enough to dance at her grandson’s wedding. The day before she passed, she said her goodbyes to a room full of her husband, children, grandchildren, brother, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews by saying “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Anita was born to Malcolm and Mary (Cooper) Lambrecht on October 4, 1946 in Hastings, NE. She was the third of four children. The family lived on a farm in Inavale, NE before moving to Red Cloud. She graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1964.
She met her husband Kent Savery in Lincoln, NE. They were married December 28, 1968. To this union were born two children, Matthew and Lora. They raised their family in the Millard area of Omaha. Anita worked as a director for Children’s Corner Daycare Center before deciding she wanted to become a teacher. She graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and went on to teach fifth grade at Belvedere Elementary for twenty years before retiring. In her later years of teaching, she managed the school newspaper. After retiring, she continued to substitute teach and was a mentor for TeamMates.
Volunteering was a consistent theme for her life. She was a Girl Scouts troop leader, a Girl Scouts softball coach, Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls, a youth choir director and member of the Chancel Choir for FaithWestwood United Methodist Church. She loved crocheting baby blankets, hats, scarves, and afghans. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, for which she did relentless research in family histories. She loved spoiling her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Anita was an amazing mom and grandmother. She delighted in attending school programs, kids’ sports events, band and choir concerts. She loved sewing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She made sure the family always got together for the holidays, and she always enjoyed finding clever themes for giving gifts. She was loving, funny, doting, as well as a tough-as-nails master of managing chaos. She loved making memories, and her family is forever grateful for every precious year we had.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Mary Lambrecht, sister Marilyn Buenker, mother-in-law Altha Savery, father-in-law Gilbert Savery, step-mother-in-law Averil Savery, and nephew Mark Savery.
Those left to celebrate Anita’s life include her husband of 56 years, Kent Savery of Omaha; children Matthew (Mindy) Savery of Omaha; Lora (Todd) Savery-Hinze of McCook, NE; sister Sherita (Ed) Harlow of York, NE; brother Charles Lambrecht of Nebraska City, NE; brother-in-law Douglas (Nancy) Savery of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Gregg Savery of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law Pamela Savery of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren Hayden and Savanna Savery of Omaha; Steven (Rylee) Hinze of Yankton, SD; Malcolm and Isaac Hinze of McCook, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
