Alice Elizabeth (Klabunde) Paustian was born on August 25, 1931 in Irvington, Ne. Alice was the third child of Otto and Minnie (Benke) Klabunde. Alice was baptized on September 27, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson – sponsors Henry Peterson and Clara Peterson Labs. Her Parents moved to Springfield, Ne. in 1932. Alice attended 1st grade at the country school at 192nd and Buffalo Road. In 1938 they moved to Elkhorn, Ne. to a farm one mile east of Elkhorn. She attended Elkhorn School until March of 1946 when her family moved to Brownton, MN. Alice graduated from Brownton High School in 1949. Alice worked in Minneapolis, Mn. for one year then moved back to Nebraska to live with Uncle Chris, and Aunt Lena Thompson. After moving back to Nebraska Cousin Erwin Klabunde was going to a movie with Kieffer Paustian. Alice Asked if she could go along with them and meet her soon to be husband. The next week they had their first date. Alice worked at Boys Town from the fall of 1950 until May of 1953. Alice married Kieffer John Paustian October 20, 1951 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn Ne. Alice and Kieffer had three Children son –Roger and wife Marilyn Paustian, Daughter – Karen and husband Kevin Melstad, son – Thomas and wife Therese Paustian all of Omaha. Six Grandchildren Andrea and husband James Seitz of Minneapolis, Wendi and husband Kent McDowell of Windsor, CT. Kyle and wife Vida Paustian of Plattsmouth Ne. Jason and wife Jill Laferriere of Omaha, Ne. Nicholas and wife Lisa Laferriere of Staten Island, NY. and Joseph Paustian of Omaha, Ne. 14 grandchildren John, Kyra, Maria, Jeremiah, Nathanial and Valerie Paustian, Kylie, Keegan and Kaden Laterriere, Hagen Laterriere, Michael and Daniel Seitz, Alex and Cody McDowell. Brothers Arlie Klabunde of Litchfield, Mn. and Delbert and wife Janice Klabunde of Minneapolis, Mn. Sister Sylvia Markgraf of Stewart, Mn. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice was a longtime volunteer at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, Ne, starting in 1996 when she took her Grandson Joseph to pre-school which was held at the church.
