Alice Marie Adelson (Matthes) died on Saturday May 7th in Omaha, NE at the age of 73. Alice is survived by her husband Gary of Omaha; son, Craig (Wendy) Adelson of Omaha; grandson, Corey Adelson of Lakewood, CO and step-grandsons, Garrett Ross and Daegan Page of Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law, Daryl (Linda) Adelson of Seward, NE, Loree Adelson of Waverly, NE and sister-in-law, Sandra (Grant) Gibbs of Carmel, IN; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Kurt Adelson; parents, Alvin and Edna Matthes (Johnson); parents in law, Lloyd and Irene Adelson, and brother, Roy Matthes. Alice was born on January 31, 1943 in Marquette, NE to Alvin and Edna Matthes. She attended Central City High School. Alice married Gary Adelson, her high school sweetheart on September 5, 1961. Alice and Gary lived in Fort Collins, Colorado before moving back to Nebraska and making Millard / Omaha their home. After moving to Omaha Alice began working at Marianna Inc. in the warehouse. Over the next few years their sons Craig and Kurt were added to their family. Alice loved animals of all kinds as well as going to local establishments for a few games of keno and pickles. A memorial service is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Monday May 16th, 2016 at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel) in Omaha, NE. The family will be available for visitation beginning at 5:30 pm. A scattering of ashes and burial service will be held at a later time. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alice’s life. Memorial donations can be sent to the Nebraska Humane Society.
