Adeline Frances Innes
July 27, 1947 - May 7, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Adeline Frances Innes, known to her friends and family as Addie, who left us unexpectedly on May 7, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 27, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the beloved daughter of Helen Adeline Dudley and Wilbert Francis Innes.
Addie grew up in Des Moines, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School before moving to Omaha. She dedicated more than 40 years of her life to a fulfilling career at the National Indemnity Company (NICO), a member of the Berkshire Hathaway insurance group. Known for her warmth and kindness, Addie considered her coworkers family and formed deep, lasting friendships throughout her career. She never met a stranger and made friends with everyone.
A passionate supporter of Creighton University Men's Basketball, Addie held season tickets and proudly wore Creighton blue. Fishing was another lifelong passion; she cherished more than 40 years of annual trips to Sunset Beach Resort in Bena, Minnesota, where she shared her love of the sport with close friends and by teaching her nieces, Natalie and Nicole, how to fish.
Addie treasured her family, including her twin sisters, Jean Innes and Jane Innes Lynch, her brother Wilbert (Bill or Bud) Innes, and her beloved nephews and niece, Caden Lynch, Henry Herold, and Adeline (Addy) Herold. She was honored to have her great-niece named after her, continuing a cherished family legacy dating back at least six generations. Addie shared joyful moments with her great-nephew, Caden, teaching him how to fish and cheering him on at his lacrosse games.
Music filled Addie’s home with happiness, featuring favorites like Emmylou Harris and The Rolling Stones. She frequently visited Des Moines for family gatherings and made annual trips to Colorado to visit her friend Phyllis's family, bringing back delicious Colorado peaches to share.
Addie is survived by her, twin sisters Jean and Jane, her daughters, Natalie Lynch and her son Caden, and Nicole Herold and her husband Drew, along with their children, Henry and Addy. She is also survived by her brother Bill, his wife Ann and their family. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Phyllis Watkins, and her family, including Tamara Waite, Terri (Sam) Shahrokh, and their children, Chris (Steph) Watkins and their families. Addie will be deeply missed by her loved ones, including her cherished cats, Bailey and Gracie.
Preceded in death by her parents, Addie’s Celebration of Life will be held in June 2025, inviting family and friends to come together in honor of her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name. Addie’s spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
